National Honor Society (NHS) is an honorary organization that recognizes student academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, and community service.
Membership in this organization is an immediate flag for potential employers, colleges, and scholarship committees that the faculty of your high school recognized you as an outstanding member of the school community. It is a prestigious award and highly recognized.
Application for NHS is open to sophomores and juniors who possess the following qualities: a cumulative grade point average of 3.55 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher, show evidence of satisfactory participation in multiple athletic and academic activities at Waconia High School, perform a minimum of 40 and up to 80 additional hours of community service, and one's character must be held in high esteem. Additional information and volunteer opportunities can be found on our Schoology page: Waconia NHS Interest Group (Access Code: XMNXN-MQ7TT); a hard copy of the application form can be obtained by seeing one of the advisers.
Forms for membership to the Waconia High School National Honor Society Chapter are due to WHS's NHS faculty advisors Alyssa Larsen or Nelia Von Glan on or before April 5, 2019. Forms for candidacy then will be reviewed and voted on by the selection committee and you will be notified in writing of your acceptance status.
