TEACHER SUBSTITUTES

Eligibility:
Candidates interested in becoming a substitute teacher for Waconia Public Schools must hold a Minnesota teaching license issued by the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board or a short-call substitute license.

The substitute teacher pay rate is $130 for a full day and $67.50 for a half day.

Short-Call Licensure:
If you do not have a Minnesota teaching license or a short-call license, then you must complete and pass the STEDI SubSkills Online Training Course and provide a copy of your SubDiploma to the HR Department before your application will be processed.

Candidates who do not currently hold a Minnesota limited short-call license or standard teaching license, but have completed the STEDI SubSkills training course, will have to apply for a short-call license with the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board.  This will need to be completed prior to attending the new-substitute orientation.

NON-LICENSED SUBSTITUTES

Eligibility for Substitute Educational Assistant Positions:
Candidates interested in becoming a substitute educational assistant for Waconia Public Schools must have a high school diploma or GED.  Previous experience working with children is preferred.   The substitute educational assistant pay rate is $15.00 per hour.

 

Eligibility for Substitute Building Cleaner and Nutritional Assistant Positions:
Candidates interested in becoming a substitute Building Cleaner and Nutritional Assistant for Waconia Public Schools must have a high school diploma or GED.  The substitute Building Cleaner and Nutritional Assistant pay rate is $15.00 per hour.


Candidates with a Bachelor's degree:
Interested candidates who do not hold a Minnesota teaching license or a short-call substitute license may be eligible to provide substitute teaching services if they have a bachelor’s degree. Please refer to the information listed under the Teacher Substitutes located above.

Application Process

Candidates must complete an online application.

Applications will be reviewed by the HR Department. Applicants meeting requirements and a specific need of the District will be contacted by a Human Resources representative to complete a criminal background check and schedule an orientation.

Waconia Public Schools will only contact applicants who have provided complete application materials, including references.
